Annual elections are typically held in June. Chair-Elect duties begin immediately following the election; all officers officially begin their terms on October 1 of the election year, in accordance with the recent by-law change.
This is a four-year term, serving one year each as Chair-Elect, Program Chair, Chair, and Immediate Past Chair. The first year involves planning special activities and meeting program themes for the year as Chair. The second year is devoted to completing plans for the Chair year and on putting together the detailed programs for the ACS Fall and Spring National Meetings. The Chair year includes implementing these plans as well as chairing the meetings of the Division’s Executive Committee. The final year includes chairing the Nominating Committee for the Division.

This is a two-year term, with the possibility of re-election. The Secretary puts together the agendas for each Executive Committee meeting, coordinating with the Chair, prepares and publishes the minutes of each meeting, and coordinates preparation of the Division’s Annual Report to the ACS.

This is a two-year term, with the possibility of re-election. The Treasurer maintains the Division’s financial records, approves all payments for Division activities, reports at each Executive Committee meeting, and prepares the Division’s Annual Financial Report to the ACS.

This is a three-year term, with the possibility of re-election. The Division has four Councilors and four Alternate Councilors, the most a Division can have (based on membership). The Councilors participate in the two meetings of the ACS Council, at the spring and fall ACS National Meetings, and may serve on one of the 30+ Committees of the ACS. The Alternate Councilors attend the Council meeting if a Councilor is unable to do so.
